London at War

LONDON AT WAR TOUR

Air raid warden

London, a city with a rich history, has unfortunately experienced attacks during both World War One and Two. The first aerial attack on London was conducted by Zeppelin on May 31st, 1915. This attack left a significant impact on the city, and the scars left by it are still visible to this day. The first bombs to land on London during the Second World War were on August 25th, 1940. The devastation caused by these bombs was unprecedented, and it left a permanent mark on the city.

Evidence of war damage from both of these conflicts is still present in London. The city has been through a lot, and it has come under attack from missiles, namely the V1 and V2. The impact of these missiles was felt by the people of London, and the aftermath of the attacks is still visible today. During our exploration of the city, we will find evidence not only of the material damage that was caused, but more importantly, the human losses that were suffered.

Evidence of air raid shelters are still present in London, and the signs from the 1940s are still visible in certain parts of the city. These signs serve as a reminder of the hardships that the people of London faced during the war. The city has come a long way since those dark days, but the memory of the war still lingers. Your guide, considers it a privilege to be able to explore this rich history with you and bring to light some of the stories of the people who lived through those challenging times.
